Crowded OPDs and waiting rooms filled to capacity with patients and this a familiar sight at most urban Indian hospitals and clinics. Convenience in accessing a particular clinic also influences a patient’s choice. Once accessibility and logistics are straightened out, what barriers remain for a patient to connect to their doctor?

A survey conducted with wide and varied audience in the major metropolitan and suburban areas of Mumbai, Pune, and other parts of India through a shareable link and social media explored the patient experience when trying to reach a doctor over the phone and what might cause patients to cancel or reschedule pre-established appointments.


A total of 236 responses were collected. Our respondent profile included both males and females, with females holding the majority at 64%. Two age groups stood out; namely, 25-34, and 35-44.
